La Asunción
People come to La Asunción for the coffee, but they stay for the unexpected stories. The soccer field doubles as a stage for both local games and the occasional runaway goat. You could spend an afternoon counting motorcycles or just watching kids chase kites, both equally time-consuming. At the bakery, the bread sometimes disappears before noon, but the baker never seems to run out of jokes. Popular things to do or visit include the central plaza, where you can sometimes spot a parade, or just a dog who thinks he owns the place. If you ask three people for directions, you'll get four answers, but that's the charm. The best hotel in La Asunción is the one with the hammock that doesn't squeak, or so the locals say, but you'll have to try them all to find out.

Long-term travel memories in La Asunción: what to do, where to sleep
Travel destination popular things to do or visit in La Asunción? Well, you might start with the church, which is known more for its bell than its sermons, or the market, where the fruit sellers can tell you stories longer than the queue itself. Once, I tried to buy a papaya and left with a recipe for sopa negra and an invitation to someone's cousin's birthday. No kidding. If you’re looking for adventure, rent a bicycle and try not to get lost—unless getting lost is your thing, which, to be honest, it probably will be after the third roundabout that wasn’t on your map.
When it comes to sleep, the best hotel in La Asunción might not have a sign, but it definitely has a rooster, and you’ll hear it at 5:42 a.m., not a minute sooner. Some rooms come with a view of the volcano, others with a view of your neighbor’s laundry. Either way, you’ll remember the taste of the coffee and the sound of the rain, which sometimes falls sideways here for reasons nobody really explains. Just don’t forget your umbrella, unless you want to test how waterproof your shoes are.
