The best hotels in Luxembourg

Luxembourg may look small on the map, but don’t underestimate the hills, tunnels and turns. Where you stay can save time - or add a few surprises.

Luxembourg City is often the first stop. The old centre sits high, the station sits low, and somehow your hotel is always uphill. Booking a hotel near the centre helps with access to the valley views, museums, and that one lift locals use like it's no big deal. Public transport is free, which helps — unless you miss the last bus and have to guess your way back through cobblestone shortcuts. Outside the capital, the Ardennes region pulls in hikers, cyclists, and people looking for space. Hotels in towns like Clervaux and Vianden put you near forests, castles and the kind of walking trails where phone signal disappears halfway through. It’s the part of Luxembourg where you pack snacks, start early, and don’t always know where lunch will happen. Some hotels double as the local café or bus stop, which can be useful - or confusing.

The Moselle Valley has a different pace. Think river views, vineyards, and towns where everything seems closed at 14:00 but open again by 18:00. Hotels in this region often sit near the water or on hills just far enough to require good shoes. It’s a place to slow down, taste a few things, and try to pronounce village names you’ve never seen before. Not ideal if you're in a rush, but perfect if you're not.
